Scott- nice list, really agree with your #1. But no Gremlins? No Scrooged? (Although technically its A Christmas Carol)
sad to say it but I’ve never seen gremlins, and as for scrooged – bill does his best work when has other great comedic actors to work off of which scrooged just doesn’t really have.
You should check out Gremlins- its what I immediately think of when I hear “Christmas movie.” This may say more about me, however. But it is worth your time during the holidays.
As for Scrooged- what about Carol Kane? “Oh look… a toaster!” is one of my favorite lines in all of physical comedy. Again, this may say more about me. And the movie did (for me, at the time) what you suggested: brought the themes and ideas of A Christmas Carol into the modern.
