The Super Bowl is probably going to put a big dent in ticket sales this weekend, particularly on Sunday. Hopefully I can get around that handicap…

1) Chronicle – most of the audience for this movie is going to skip movies on Sunday for the superbowl, but I think it should still do good it’s opening weekend. I’m eager to see it, so maybe that’s biasing my choice, but I’ve seen a mix of both good and bad reviews and I think this is a good pick.
2) The Woman In Black – I’m taking a chance here and saying this movie will come in second. Harry Potter fans who aren’t afraid of scary movies will probably check it out. The commercials I’ve seen don’t seem to bad, though I’m wondering if they are pushing the whole scare-the-audience thing too much.
3) The Grey – I think most of the Liam Neeson fans are going to be too busy at the super bowl.
4) Big Miracle – Feel good family flick. It’s got to go somewhere, and I picked here. Not sure how much the super bowl is going to affect this one. Dad’s and older boys will want to stay home for the game, but bored Moms, girls, and young children are going to need something to go to if they don’t want to watch commercials…
5) Underworld Awakening – I just don’t see One For The Money staying in the top 5. All the reviews have been bad–it’s not easy to get 3% on rotten tomatoes. I was tempted last week to see it from the trailers but decided not to and now I doubt I ever will unless comes on TV one night and I’m bored or something.

p.s. I heard about chronicle months ago and have been eager to see it from the start. Most of it’s early marketing has been on social networking sites I think.

ok, here we are;

1) Woman in Black- despite late ads for Chronicle, I think that those two are a toss up for #1, but I’m giving the edge to After Harry Potter, cause Chronicle is more likely to have an audience that watches the Game of Sunday.
2) Chronicle- see #1
3) The Grey- Liam Neeson kicks ass in Feb. too
4) Big Miracle- the miracle is if this charts higher.
5) Red Tails- call this my crazy ivan- but hey, it dropped ~40% and if it does that again, it’s in the hunt for the pack that was 2 thru 4 last week. And I think this has more non- Game legs than the others.

Monty says:
1) Chronicle
2) Woman in Black
3) The Grey
4) One for the Money
5) Big Miracle

and daHobbit is optimistic (or sentimental) this week:

1) Big Miracle
2) The Grey
3) One for the Money
4) Chronicle
5) Woman in Black

I ditto’d my picks during BSBO but I’m not sure if they got picked up, and just in case I sleep through the deadline (which I’m hoping to do after a long week), I’ll throw my picks up here, too:

1. Chronicle
2. Woman in Black
3. The Grey
4. Big Miracle
5. One for the Money

Mrs. Beast’s picks for the weekend of February 3 – 5, 2012:
1. The Woman In Black
2. Big Miracle
3. The Grey
4. Chronicle
5. Underworld: Awakening
