Memorial Day Weekend. “We may not win the Box Office, but you can be damn sure we’ll Avenge it”

1) MIB 3 – I don’t think this is going to do as well as some people think it’s going to do, but Avengers has been out for four weeks now so the MIB should come out on top
2) Avengers –
3) Battleship – not as bad as some people make it out to be, but not great either. I see this movie as becoming a staple of cable reruns in the near future.
4) Chernobyl Diaries – Lets hear it for Russion/Ukaranian Radioactive Mutant Cannibals! (or whatever they are)
5) The Dictator – was tempted to think the vampire could bite of the dictator, but decided it’s not very likely…

1. MIB 3 – Time Travel because that what the Wheel of Plot Points landed on apparently

2. The Avengers – Wondering what 12% of the credit would net my bank account?

3. Battleship – I get the feeling that someone in Hollywood is working on a reboot of this

4. Chernobyl Diaries – Radioactive Vampires playing basketball – that’s a crossover

5. The Dictator – This would work as a Parker/Stone Puppet movie

Monty says “ditto” to Scott, CougRon & Jeff. (Well, he didn’t exactly say that, but those are his picks, saves me some typing.)

And oddly, I don’t ditto anyone. While these are the same picks (I think) I’d have made earlier in the week, I can’t deny thinking about the end-of-season scores- was anyone else picking to be slightly different?

1) MiB3- Avengers is finally fallen low enough for a big new release to catch it.
2) Avengers – but not fallen so much that it won’t make major bank. I wonder if this will drop more slowly now that other major releases have kind of flamed out? Theater owners can make major bucks on long runs.
3) Chernobyl Diaries- wasn’t really sure where to seed this. Battleship tanked, & I expect a steep fall (especially when you don’t count the Monday holiday) but will this have enough horror-fan interest to make it to third place? The low review numbers argue against, but since when did that matter to horror fans?
4) Battleship- I gave thought to this falling past the Dictator, too, but this is the natural fit if movie-goers don’t want to see Avengers, again.
5) The Dictator- I don’t think poor(ish) word of mouth will harm this that much, but a standard fall puts it about here. And I don’t think it’s wise to bet on expanding art house flicks- that’s a gamble that there’s a wider audience that just may not exist.

aaaand on Friday, the estimates were looking so good! What the bleep happened Chernobyl Diaries???

And on another note, last week the hosts were talking about changing the scoring, and I wanted to throw an idea out there- if you end the bye-week system, how about a bonus point system for consecutive weeks of participation?

You’d get to encourage continuous play without the having to explain the skip weeks system. Anyone have any thoughts?
