Weekend Box Office: June 29-July 1

#1 Ted from Universal opened at #1 with a gross of $54.4 million in 3,239 theaters.  Budget was $50 million.

#2 Magic Mike from Warner Bros. opened at #2 with a gross of $39.1 million in 2,930 theaters.  Budget was $7 million.

#3 Brave from Buena Vista fell from #1 to #3 with a gross of $34.1 million (-48.6%) in 4,164 theaters.  Total gross to date is $131.8 million.  Budget was $185 million.

#4 Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection from Lionsgate opened at #4 with a gross of $25.4 million in 2,161 theaters.  Budget was $20 million.

#5 Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted from Paramount fell from #2 to #5 with a gross of $11.8 million (-39.9%) in 3,715 theaters (-205).  Total gross to date is $180 million.  Budget was $145 million.

#6 Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter from Fox fell from #3 to #6 with a weekend gross of $6 million (-63.1%) in 3,109 theaters (+1).  Budget was $69 million.

#7 Moonrise Kingdom from Focus Features rose from #11 to #7 with a weekend gross of $4.93 million (+45.1%) in 854 theaters (+459). Total gross to date is $18.5 million. Budget was $16 million.

#8 Prometheus from Sony fell from #4 to #8 with a weekend gross of $4.92 million (-50.3%) in 1,951 theaters (-911).  Total gross to date is $118.3 million.  Budget was $130 million.

#9 Snow White and the Huntsman from Universal fell from #5 to #9 with a gross of $4.5 million (-44.4%) in 2,337 theaters (-582).  Total gross to date is $145.7 million.  Budget was $170 million.

#10 Marvel’s The Avengers from Buena Vista fell from #8 to #10 with a weekend gross of $4.4 million (-38.4%) in 1,757 theaters (-473).  Total gross to date is $606.5 million. Budget was $220 million.

#11 People Like Us from Buena Vista opened at #11 with a weekend gross of $4.3 million in 2,055 theaters.  Budget was $16 million.

#12 MIB 3 from Sony fell from #9 to #12 with a weekend gross of $3 million (-48%) in 1,902 theaters (-560).  Total gross to date is $169.7 million.  Budget was $225 million.

The combined gross of the top 12 movies this weekend was $196.9 million.
