Back Seat Box Office #12

Tony, Jonathan and Andrew are celebrating BSBO hitting 12 episodes. Run down to your local Krispy Kreme and celebrate with us in spirit.

All three hosts got 60% last weekend thus unlocking the ‘Mark of the Beast’ achievement. Darryl and Liam are not with us this weekend but we review how they did and the special achievements they unlocked.

Andrew is heading out to Ragtag Cinema, his local arthouse theater, to see Fair Game. Apparently it has nothing to do with the 1995 film of the same name, who knew? While Jonathan is looking forward to seeing The Tempest at his local arthouse theater.

Back Seat Box Office #9

Tony is seeing patterns, or is he??? Many thanks to everyone who emailed Andrew about joining his anti-witch mob. His instructions are to go to Case Magenta, I repeat, go to Case Magenta.

Looking at last weekend’s results, Andrew led the pack with 60%, Tony came in second with 40% and Jonathan ended up with 20%.

Tony says, “Darrell’s review of Skyline,”  but means Darren. Oops! He offers profuse apologies to all those involved.

“Harrry Potter: The Deathly Hallows” and “The Next Three Days” both debut this weekend. We ponder which one will do better at the box office. . . . . for about a second.

Andrew thinks an evil genius will fall faster then a train but not nearly as fast as two guys on a road trip:

  1. Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows pt. 1
  2. Unstoppable
  3. Megamind
  4. The Next Three Days
  5. Morning Glory

Tony disagrees:

  1. Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows pt. 1
  2. Megamind
  3. Unstoppable
  4. The Next Three Days
  5. Due Date

Jonathan figures that if John Brennan can break his wife out of prison, he can come in second this weekend:

  1. Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows pt. 1
  2. The Next Three Days
  3. Unstoppable
  4. Megamind
  5. Due Date

The Green Lantern trailer we talked about can be found here.

Is Tony lighter then a duck? Why would we even ask such a question?

We then look back at last weekend’s results and commemorate the show reaching a major milestone as one host gains the 0% achievement.

After discussing abducting aliens, a runaway train, Cindy Crawford and a grumpy old man we get down to making our picks.

Tony thinks Megamind has the staying power for a second week and gives Skyline more credit then the rest of us:

  1. Megamind
  2. Unstoppable
  3. Morning Glory
  4. Due Date
  5. Skyline

Andrew hops on the Megamind bandwagon after getting it wrong last week and shocks his co-hosts with his fifth pick:

  1. Megamind
  2. Unstoppable
  3. Due Date
  4. Morning Glory
  5. Fair Game

Jonathan tries out his new strategy of working smarter, not harder:

  1. Unstoppable
  2. Megamind
  3. Due Dates
  4. Morning Glory
  5. For Colored Girls

Back Seat Box Office #7

Jonathan is riding high as we review last weekend’s results while Andrew and Tony are less enthused. For the record Jonathan correctly predicted 60% while his co-hosts are sharing the basement with 20%.

Sausage Fest 2010, Virtual or otherwise, is over and raised $580 for breast cancer research.

We then look forward to this weekend’s conundrum of 3 very different new releases. After comparing the relative merits of Tyler Perry, family friendly super villians and ‘that bearded guy’ we end up with three very different lists.

Jonathan believes in the draw of Iron Man and ‘that bearded guy’:

  1. Due Date
  2. For Colored Girls
  3. Megamind
  4. Paranormal Activity 2
  5. Red

Andrew banks on Oprah’s fame while trusting in numbers to round out his list:

  1. For Colored Girls
  2. Due Date
  3. Megamind
  4. Saw 3-D
  5. Paranormal Activity 2

Tony feels that family comes first this week:

  1. Megamind
  2. Due Date
  3. For Colored Girls
  4. Saw 3-D
  5. Red

We finish up the show singing the praises of The Way of the Game.

Back Seat Box Office #6

Tony, Jonathan, and Andrew are back for another week of box office prognostication.

You can still donate to Virtual SausageFest until October 31.

Before we can get down to business this week there is an airing of secrets and grievances. Andrew is slowly going mad from hearing how poorly he speaks, Tony takes joy crushing his players and Jonathon feels wronged by his co-hosts.

Tony breaks his slump by nailing #3 thru #5 and walking away with 60%. While Jonathan and Andrew only pick up 40% as Secretariat comes up short.

After marveling at Paranormal Activity 2’s success and pondering if the Saw franchise has any life left in it we get down to business and make our picks for this weekend.

Tony and Andrew have nothing to argue about this week as they make identical picks:

  1. Paranormal Activity 2
  2. Saw 3-D
  3. Jackass 3-D
  4. Red
  5. Hereafter

Jonathan brings his ‘A’ game this week and feels that Red will hold steady while Knoxville et al go plunging past:

  1. Paranormal Activity 2
  2. Saw 3-D
  3. Red
  4. Jackass 3-D
  5. Hereafter

Will this be the week we finally break through the 60% barrier?!?

Back Seat Box Office #5

Jonathan, of The Way of the Game fame, and Andrew, Archer Enthusiast, are back this week talking Box Office with Tony.

Tony doesn’t want to talk about last weekend’s results but we talk about it anyway. Tony’s bet that Red would debut at #1 did not pay off and he only got 20% right. Meanwhile, Andrew and Jonathan’s faith in Jackass 3-D was well founded and carried them to a 60% weekend.

Andrew just saw Red and his initial thoughts on the movie leads to us talking about Helen Mirren. We end up going somewhere that felt natural at the time but, in retrospect, might be a bit weird.

After lengthy pondering Tony decides to give Jackass more credit this week and that Mark Zuckerberg has more staying power then Secretariat:

  1. Jackass 3-D
  2. Paranormal Activity 2
  3. Red
  4. Hereafter
  5. The Social Network

Andrew decides to put his faith into Matt Damon, Clint Eastwood and the draw of a holiday sequel:

  1. Paranormal Activity 2
  2. Jackass 3-D
  3. Hereafter
  4. Red
  5. Secretariat

While Andrew and Tony grapple with numbers and projections, Jonathan decides to stick with his gut:

  1. Jackass 3-D
  2. Paranormal Activity 2
  3. Red
  4. Hereafter
  5. Secretariat

Whose got it right this week?!?

Back Seat Box Office #4

This week Tony is joined by Jonathan from The Way of the Game podcast and Andrew, General Roustabout.

We start by discussing Tony’s picks for last weekend. The bad news is that he only got 20% right. The good news is that all 5 of the movies he picked were in the Top 5.

After Tony finishes explaining what went wrong we move into his picks for this weekend which are:

  1. Red
  2. Jackass 3-D
  3. The Social Network
  4. Life as We Know It
  5. Secretariet

The cover of ‘Creep’ from The Social Network trailer is performed by Scala & Kolacny Brothers, a Belgian women’s choir. If you haven’t heard it, go check it out, it’s spectacular.

Finally, Jonathan and Andrew chime in that they both believe Jackass 3-D will debut at #1 with Red at #2. Tune in next week to see who’s right!
