Guys, has there been something continuous with the website? It has been flaky for me all this week.

1) Transformers: Dark of the Moon – Let’s face it, Michael Bay has supposedly listened to the complaints from the marginally horrid Revenge of the Fallen and made Dark of the Moon the giant robot battle movie everyone has been waiting for. This is going to dominate the box office, particularly given that its most likely competition is Pixar’s weak sequel to its weakest film.

2) Cars 2 – I think I said it well enough above, this looks like a kid’s movie that happens to have been made by Pixar. I guess they needed to open up the cash machine with the merchandising for some reason. On the upside, The Brave has been announced for next year, and that looks excellent!

3) Larry Crowne – Hey guys! Let’s do a good comedy with romantic undertones! Who do we know that can do that? Obviously, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts! They practically invented the genre in the last 20 years or so. So, while there is a distinct crowd for explosions and another for animation, there is yet another for cute comedies.

4) Bad Teacher – Are we done staring at Cameron Diaz’s ass yet? ‘Cuz that is what this movie seems to be about. Not that I have any problem with that. R-rated comedies in this particular weekend don’t seem that appealing given the alternatives. The 4th of July is, first and foremost, about patriotism (Autobots! Roll out!). And then blowing stuff up (And it’s Lightning McQueen in the lead, in amazingly fantastic color!). And after that, being with family (Aww, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, how cute). I don’t really see how Cameron’s ass fits in there.

5) Green Lantern – Just another conductor hanging the lantern off the caboose. If this movie drops any harder, it’s going to hit bedrock.

1) Transformers 3- it kinda scares me how much money this could make.

2) Cars 2– nothing else new this week can beat this one, even with a big drop (and I don’t think the drop will be that big- what else do you take the kids to?)

3) Larry Crowne- the big question of the week: Can Tom Hanks + Julia Roberts beat a surprise Cameron Diaz hit? I say yes, this will take over $18 million

4) Bad Teacher- falls to about $15-16 million ( I hope)

5) Super 8- I think this is the movie you go see again on the holiday weekend. Anyone that might be tempted to see GL again will probably be at a Transformers screening- that huge GL drop in week 2 is telling. (Yes, Monte Carlo could end up here. Or 10th. Or 17th. I’m playing the odds that Super 8 is no lower than 7th.)

Uriah, yeah, the host has been having problems with server performance from what I can tell and even after calling them they are saying it’s on my ISP. I’m going to keep hounding them about it until the site stays stable. It’s better than it was, but I still see errors from time to time too.
