#1 thru #4 this week are all kinda in a lump, tho’ I think the #1 is as obvious as everyone else. Still, a surprise could take us all.
1) Evil Dead- awareness + remake of cult classic+ horror genre should = number one this weekend.
2) G.I. Joe; Retaliation- #1 one last week at $40 million puts it in the target box for this weekend. I’ve not heard any devastating word of mouth that would cause this to drop faster, so guessing #2.
3) The Croods- I don’t expect a huge fall this week, so this is also in the ~ $20 million box. It”s competition? JP 3D.
4) Jurassic Park 3D- this could surprise- in the realm of 3D reissues, I’m on the fence, but would happily take (slightly older) kids to it, and I do want to see the 3D conversion. That being said, a screen count on the low side, and the new-ness of The Croods, and this may end up at #4.
5) Temptation- the surprise of last week (well, at least to me) would have to fall way harder than a typical Tyler Perry pic to get lower than #5. I’m now on notice that Perry can, indeed, change up genres and do well.
Menolly’s picks for the weekend of April 5 -7, 2013:
