#1 Thor from Paramount holds at #1 with a weekend gross of $34.7 million (-47.2%) in 3963 theaters (+8). Total gross to date is $119.4 million. Budget was $150 million.

#2 Bridesmaids from Universal debuts at #2 with an opening weekend gross of $26.2 million in 2918 theaters. Budget was $32.5 million.

#3 Fast Five from Universal drops from #2 to #3 with a weekend gross of $20.4 million (-37.0%) in 3793 theaters (+131). Total gross to date is $169.6 million. Budget was $125 million.

#4 Priest from Screen Gems debuts at #4 with an opening weekend gross of $14.9 million in 2864 theaters. Budget was $60 million.

#5 Rio from Fox holds at #5 with a weekend gross of $8.2 million (-2.7%) in 2929 theaters (-329). Total gross to date is $125.2 million. Budget was $90 million.

#6 Jumping the Broom from TriStar drops from #3 to #6 with a weekend gross of $7.0 million (-53.6%) in 2035 theaters (no change). Total gross to date is $25.7 million. Budget was $6.6 million.

Rounding out the top 12 are:

#7 Something Borrowed drops from #4 to #7 with a weekend gross of $6.8 million (-50.7%) in 2904 theaters (no change). Total gross to date is $25.5 million. Budget was $35 million.

#8 Water for Elephants drops from #6 to #8 with a weekend gross of $4.2 million (-30.8%) in 2425 theaters (-189). Total gross to date is $48.5 million. Budget was $38 million.

#9 Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family drops from #7 to #9 with a weekend gross of $2.2 million (-47.0%) in 1449 theaters (–432). Total gross to date is $50.2 million. Budget is unknown.

#10 Soul Surfer drops from #8 to #10 with a weekend gross of $1.8 million (-20.8%) in 1468 theaters (-313). Total gross to date is $39.2 million. Budget was $18 million.

#11 Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil drops from #10 to #11 with a weekend gross of $1.1 million (-43.6%) in 1276 theaters (-1229). Total gross to date is $8.5 million. Budget was $30 million.

#12 Insidious drops from #11 to #12 with a weekend gross of $0.9 million (-28.4%) in 762 theaters (-239). Total gross to date is $51.6 million. Budget was $1.5 million.

The combined gross of the top 12 movies this weekend was $128.9 million (-17.0%).

New movies debuting in wide release this weekend include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

A note on “Gross”: On average, studios will earn approximately 55 percent of the final gross.

darn it, I got the bottom of this weeks results 🙁 Thor didn’t drop off quite as much as I thought it would and Bridesmaids didn’t pull in as much as I thought. I was also a little optimistic about Priest.

maybe I should go back to guessing after I’ve heard the friday show… but it seems more… pure… to guess before I’ve heard others picks.
