Back Seat Box Office #37 Results and Voice Mail

I had another mistake happen this time around.  This one was fortunately caught prior to episode release.

Tad DID participate.  Tad DID send a VM. Tad DID get a 25.  Tad’s 25 means that he DOES stay in 2nd place this week.

The leaderboard reflects the correction to this episode, and Tad’s VM appears as part of this podcast… just listen past the music.

One other mistake from the show that I noticed while editing.  I stated that the average score this week was 24.5.  I meant to say it was 24.05.  And even that would now need tweeked with the addition of Tad’s score.  The ACTUAL average score for the week was 24.1

Other VM contributors this week:

  • Art
  • Tim
  • William

With the addition of Tad’s score… of the 20 participants, 15 of them scored a 25.

People, look under your chairs. That’s right! You get a 25! You get a 25! You get a 25! You get a 25! You get a 25! EVERYBODY GETS A 25! Not you Scott.

This week will be a bit different, not so easy.

Those of you with 23-25 average may want to sit out this week, so you don’t get dylan dogged by one of the opening movies.

Anyway, Here’s my picks for the weekend of June 10 – 12, 2011:
1. X-Men: First Class
2. Super 8
3. Hangover 2
4. Kung Fu Panda 2
5. Midnight In Paris

And here are Menolly’s Picks for the weekend of June 10 – 12, 2011:
1. X-Men: First Class
2. Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer
3. Midnight In Paris
4. Super 8
5. Hangover 2

EEK!

Now that I’ve gotten over the awe-inspiring glow of gold from the hosts’ triple crown, I should submit picks:

1) X-Men: First Class – I don’t see Super 8 killing this particular picture. I think it will stay here until next weekend, when Green Lantern comes to take it down. God, the visualization of that is just pathetic…Hal Jordan putting down the X-Men, I mean, really….Regardless, X-Men will stay on top until then.

2) Super 8 – Why am I so driven to try and do better with this whole box office prognostication crap? I wish I knew, because I actually ran to Box Office Mojo to dig up a comparison with Cloverfield’s opening. I figured that to be a close analog, so I’m putting this at #2. Main reason being, limited marketing when compared to Cloverfield’s extensive viral marketing with the beheaded Statue of Liberty imagery everywhere. Super 8 has been very, very subtle in comparison in its ads.

3) Kung Fu Panda 2 – I think that Hangover is going to take a bigger header this weekend, so the Panda will be the immovable force. Although, I could be wrong and Judy Moody & the Not-So Bummer Summer could take it out.

4) Hangover 2 – Just read that the much-debated face tattoo may be digitally removed in the DVD release. Are you fracking kidding me?

5) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – No real reason for this to stay here, it just seems logical.

I hope some of this incipient chaos is sufficient to throw those non-host 25 point scorers off their game.
