hmm, I’m almost tempted to go back to making pics on Fridays. The last two times I did, I got 25’s. doesn’t seem to help my overall ranking though. Doesn’t help that I have no feel for how the new Jim Carrey movie is going to do. I hadn’t heard a thing about it until a couple weeks ago. Will it get second or will Super 8?

Okay, going to take a chance and go with these, though maybe I should repick on Friday…

1. Green Lantern
2. Super 8
3. Mr Popper’s Penguins
4. X-Men: First Class
5. Hangover Part II

ok, last week I got fancy. this time I’m playing it safe. just the two openers at the top, and everyone else moved down.
My picks for June 17 – 19, 2011:
1. Green Lantern
2. Mr. Popper’s Penguins
3. Super 8
4. X-Men: First Class
5. Hangover 2

Here we go….

1) Green Lantern – Why can’t someone at the major studios summon up some testicular fortitude and do a freaking Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds? Why? I think this movie will be okay, but Ryan Reynolds would not have been my first choice for Hal Jordan. Still, the more I see of the trailers without Hal Jordan, the better the movie looks, so let’s see what happens.

2) Super 8 – Spielberg-fandom powers activate! Was interested in this until it appeared to be a Spielberg homage. Then, it zipped to the end of the list. It might stick around in the top 5for a couple of weeks, but then, it will die the inglorious death of the summer film that couldn’t quite make blockbuster status.

3) X-Men: First Class – Magneto/Xavier bromance powers activate! Hey, and rub a little love on there for Emma Frost, Moira McTaggert, & Mystique.

4) Mr. Popper’s Penguins – Dude, you may do okay this week, but you are probably going to get slammed when Cars 2 comes out. That’s next week.

5) Hangover 2 – Only five slots in the top 5. It will get booted next week, but should survive this week.
