BSP Special Episode 08: An Interview with In-Three

In this special episode, we abandon our regular gig of reviewing films and talk with Neil and Matt from In-Three.  In-Three is a company that developed and patented a process called Dimensionalization® that makes it possible to create high quality, artifact-free 3D films from 2D films.

Come listen as discuss how this technology which was once seen as only a gimmick to give audiences a new viewing experience can be applied to the palette of tools that film-makers can use to enrich the movie going experience and draw audiences more deeply into the stories they are telling.

We also discuss the wealth of information on their website, http://in-three.com/, and at their companion blog, http://thedimensionalists.com/.

After listening, we’d love to hear from you guys.  What movies would you like to see this technology applied to?  Leave your comments at the website.

BSP Episode 099: Legend & Ladyhawke

Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, Tim Curry, Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Both of these fantasy movie titles start with the letter ‘L’ and both were released in 1985.

Special thanks to Becca, the official BSP Groupie, for giving us the subject of tonight’s episode.

This episode is being marked as explicit, but solely for the content of the promo we play at the break.

BSP Episode 098: The Reader

The final movie in our ’09 Oscar Series.  The Reader was an unexpectedly enjoyed movie by Tony.  And only Tony.

Everyone does agree though that Kate Winslet’s performance was deserving of the Oscar she earned.

Yeah, these show notes are short… unlike somethings that appeared in this movie.

BSP Episode 097: Slumdog Millionaire

This is number four in our 2009 Oscar series.  The Best Motion Picture winner and a movie that was heaped with critical acclaim…. but what did we think of this faux Bollywood sensation?

Come take a listen…

Plus, dont’ forget, we stream our recording sessions ever week on Wednesdays at about 9:30 p.m. Central

Look for us on twitter for announcements about individual streaming events.

BSP Episode 096: Watchmen

Wow!

This has been a long time coming.   We’ve recently brought in a friend, Chris, who you’ll hear in Episode #100, to edit our episodes for us, we’ve got quite a few in the can (more about this in a post later today) and we’ll be releasing them frequently in the coming days.

In this episode, Tony, Adam, Darrell, and Melina talk about Watchmen.  I would supply more detailed show notes, but after 5 months of sitting on this, waiting a few more minutes is just silly.

Here you go.

Watchmen.

Oh.. and at the tail end there is a bit of discussion about the series finale of Battlestar: Galactica.  Yeah, this was recorded that long ago.

BSP Episode 094: Frost/Nixon and Dick

Another in our Best Picture Series. Check last episode for an explanation of why we are releasing these episodes back to back like this.

Trying to catch up, and you know, someday we might even get caught up.

Also featured in this episode is a promo for Technorama and a review of Opie gets Laid.

BSP Episode 093: Milk

Wow… two months?  Sheesh… good thing we currently have um… 16!!! episodes recorded that we haven’t released… So yeah, this is going to be a good weekend for you guys.

Today I’m releasing the movie that earned Sean Penn an Academy Award for his portrayal of Harvey Milk.

Tomorrow, we’ve got an episode in wherein we discuss a former President of the United States.

Sunday, an episode where we compare two movies that were written by the same screenwriter… and which are ridiculously similar.

Happy Anniversary! Retro: FBSD Episode #1

Being jerks we called this “Episode #4”.  Honestly, we wondered if we’d be able to make it through 5, 6 and 1-3.

Today is the third anniversary of the posting of the first episode of Fanboy Smackdown (which later became Back Seat Producers.)

It’s been an incredible three years, and we’ve got 99 regular episodes and over a dozen special episodes that are out there (or need to get final editing done so we can release them).

This tag is also going to serve as a reminder to anyone who might not have heard the news.

Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 4PM to 7PM CDT, we are going to be recording and streaming our 100th episode.  We have a couple of special guests confirmed and we are going to, for the first time EVAR open up the BSP skype lines so that fans can ‘call-in’ and be part of the show.  This should be a fantastic episode with tons of laughs.  We hope that you all can join us on Ustream and/or Skype.  For details on how to be part of the fun on Saturday, come to our website and we’ll have all the details for you.

Hope you enjoy this blast from the past!

BSP Episode 092: Coraline, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Corpse Bride

Henry Selick and Tim Burton created a masterpiece in Nightmare Before Christmas.

In this episode we discuss the film that features Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, in his attempt to stave off boredom by taking over a different holiday.

We also talk about Henry Selick’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel, Coraline.

And to round things out we chat about Tim Burton’s attempt to capture our imaginations with Corpse Bride.

While these films are generally considered children’s fare, this show is not, and we recommend that you not let your kiddos listen to Adam’s drunken ramblings.
