Merry Christmas from the Back Seat

I had the great pleasure of providing my voice for Ideology of Madness and Knights of Reignsborough’s Christmas special Saints of Reignsborough.

While the BSP crew is taking a few weeks off to hang out with our families and enjoy sugar plums and whatnot, we wanted to make sure that those of you who are still commuting, wrapping presents, taking down trees or sleeping off holiday hangovers still have something new to listen to.

The first few minutes includes clips from the original sandboxing sessions that created the character of Father Dominic Argento.  After that is the story that I read.  I hope you enjoy it half as much as I enjoyed reading it and voicing the characters in the story.

Whatever holiday you celebrate this season, enjoy it.  I’ll be enjoying a Merry Christmas and tipping back some peppermint schnaaps in a candy cane shotglass… as you probably already guessed.

Back Seat Book Club – Book Fifteen: Sacré Bleu

Author: Christopher Moore

Published: 2012

HarperCollins

Plot Summary – In his latest novel, the immortal Moore takes on the Great French Masters. A magnificent “Comedy d’Art” from the author of LambFool and Bite Me, Moore’s Sacré Bleu is part mystery, part history (sort of), part love story, and wholly hilarious as it follows a young baker-painter who joins the dapper Henri Toulouse-Lautrec on a quest to unravel the mystery behind the supposed suicide of Vincent van Gogh.

Quick Thoughts

  • [forthcoming]

“The Painting is not shit,’ said Lucien.

‘I know,’ said Henri. ‘That was just part of the subterfuge. I am of royal lineage; subterfuge is one of the many talents we carry in our blood, along with guile and hemophilia.”

Your Hosts:

  • Lena
  • Sam
  • Scott

Recorded 10/25/13

Next Time: The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
